Getting there
- Go back to the street Khromov and follow it toward the waterfront to the intersection with 15th Street in April. On the right storoneulitsy, next to the house number 15, stands a dilapidated old tower - the remains of the fortress Aluston.
Aluston Fortress was founded in the VI century, in the heyday of the Byzantine Empire. By the X century building up around a small town, but three centuries later the castle was destroyed by the Mongol-Tatars.

In 1380 Aluston was taken over by the Genoese, who restored the castle in anticipation of war with the principality of Theodoro. In the years 1380-1390, they built a new outer ring of walls with three towers: Horta-Kul (Central), Ashagi-Kul (Lower) and Catal-Kul (horned). The latter, still existing
days, covered the city's main gate. In 1475 the castle was destroyed by the Turks, and since then no longer recovered.
So far, the best preserved round corner tower Ashagi-Kul. Its diameter is 10 meters, the initial height reached almost 20 meters. The interior space of the tower was divided by wooden partitions into three floors. By the ruins of the tower adjacent to preserved areas of the castle walls.
The remains of a square tower Orta-Kul are close to Ashagi-Kul, just above the street, in the yard of a private house. Trehstennoy from the tower, open from the back side, survived only the south-east corner.
Castle Aluston preserved ruins of the ancient clearly many of the Crimea. Three tall towers, as if split by lightning, survived its outer half almost to the summit. Intact and remains of the walls.
