Getting there
- Pass on Gorky Street to the intersection with Prospect Aivazovsky. Take the avenue and follow it to the museum building. Distance - 500 meters.
Feodosia Museum, open 13 (25) May 1811, is one of the oldest museums in Ukraine. Initially, the museum's collection of antiquities housed in the unpreserved to the present day Turkish mosque. In 1871 the collection moved to a new building erected on Mount Mithridates, with funds donated by Ivan Aivazovsky. This building was destroyed during World War II. In the late 1940s the museum acquired the status of local history.
Today the museum collection are in the mansion built late nineteenth century. The museum collection reflects the particular nature of the south-eastern part of the Crimean Peninsula, the history and culture of the peoples of the Crimea, Feodosia past and present. At this point in the museum store for more than 70 thousand exhibits.
