Getting there
- From Bajdarsky gate down to the Old (Vorontsov) highway Sevastopol - Yalta (T March 27) to the new highway from Sevastopol to Yalta. Length - 6 km. Next, turn to Foros, continue downhill to the main building of the sanatorium "Foros". Distance - 1.5 miles.
In the 2nd half of XIX century, the first guild merchant AG Kuznetsov, one of the largest tea monopoly in Russia, has acquired 254 acres of land in Foros. On his orders, there lay a magnificent park, and built a manor house in the style of Italian classicism.
Foros park, created by artist Yury clover and gardener Albrecht, one of the best on the South Coast. In the park there are about 200 species of plants, including many exotic: loquat, palm trees, oleanders, magnolias, laurels, and various conifers.
The most beautiful is the central part of the park - Paradise. It is designed picturesque cascade of reservoirs. The lower part of the park smoothly into the beach.
In the former manor house is now Kuznetsova administrative building of the sanatorium "Foros". Here are preserved elements of pre-revolutionary interior design and decoration: parquet, marble staircases, oak doors, lounge with Dutch ovens, 15 wall panels made Yu Yu clover, and a terrace decorated with cast-iron urns of Demidov metallurgists.
